Who the 🦆 left the gate open?!

Things go wrong on the farm, but that’s show business baby! Can’t let it ruin your day. (However, I think it did ruin Tom’s morning).

Where are my farmers and ranchers at who struggle

Where are my farmers and ranchers at who struggle with WiFi?! 🤚🏻

Surveillance on the farm and your property is important but can be a struggle if you live out in the middle of nowhere and don’t have WiFi. That’s why we are installing @defendbytactacam on the dairy.

Using a cellular connection instead of Wi-Fi, Defend Security Cameras are made for large properties, remote locations, construction sites, boat and RV sites, or anywhere an extra set of eyes is needed. (Like the maternity pen).

The cameras were super easy to install and the Defend mobile and web apps, allow you to see what’s happening, day and night. It sends images and videos upon request and will even alert your phone when something is caught on camera.

We ended up installing them be in our shop, at our home and the deer stand because Tom just couldn’t resist. 😂

It’s funny. When I first started modern-day farm

It’s funny. When I first started modern-day farm chick and picked my name it was because my focus was on technology and modern farming techniques. While some of that still makes its way into my content, today, modfarmchick is more about how diverse I am as a farmer.

Farmers are more than their job titles; they are regular people with various hobbies, interests and skills. We do get off the farm once in a while, people! 😂This past week reminded me of just that.

My week started in Madison with @wisconsincheese where I learned where our check-off dollars are spent. I experienced Wisconsin cheese, learned more about @cheeselandia (if you’re a cheese lover, check it out) and other ways the Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin work for us. I will tell you what, they are doing some really cool stuff. 🧀

Then it was back home for a day to tend to my calves, kids and husband. Funny how it takes leaving the farm to remind you why you never leave the farm 😂. No place like home!

I hit the road again on Thursday to present a few workshops at the 50th annual American Agri-Woman conference. If you have ever doubted women in ag, head to this conference. You will meet the most bad-ass gals in agriculture.

Over the weekend, I did #basicbitch stuff like take my daughter to Olive Garden and Target. (Peep our matching tats 🐮). I baked sourdough, watched The Holiday, mopped my floors and did calf chores.

Feels pretty cool to be a modern-day farm chick. ❤️
